Deb Felix

Deb’s connection to Wellfleet spans nearly six decades. She has spent part or all of every year in town since she was six years old. Wellfleet has been home to several generations of her family. Today, Deb, her family, and two of her siblings and their families live in Wellfleet year-round.

Deb’s educational background includes a B.A. in Biology and a Secondary School Teacher’s Certification from Swarthmore College; an M.B.A. and a Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration and Psychological Counseling from Columbia University; and a Ph.D in Education Policy from the University of Maryland. She spent much of her professional career in international higher education and, most recently, worked as an independent educational consultant, retiring in 2026.

Deb leads historical walking tours for WHS&M and is on the Education Committee, helping to introduce the children at Wellfleet Elementary School to the Museum and the Town’s history every year. She also volunteers with The Lily House, Wellfleet’s Weekly Community Dinner initiative, teaches water aerobics and serves as the MC for OuterCape Voices, a free storytelling and music event. When not volunteering, Deb enjoys playing Mahjong with her neighbors, and bodysurfing!

Deb feels fortunate to be a part of a community whose history, culture, people, and institutions have been woven into her life over so many years.
