Discovering the Museum's Treasures

There’s always something in the Museum to interest families and children of all ages. Learn about famous sea captains and infamous pirates. Examine Wampanoag fishing and hunting tools. Role play the household chores of Wellfleet’s children from long ago.

Treasure cards highlight tools, toys, and artifacts that will especially interest our younger audience. A treasure chest overflows with do-touch items from our teaching collection for hands-on exploration.

Walking tours feature stories that will also intrigue young visitors. The Museum is a great resource for learning more about this vibrant town---its industries, historic schools, preserved buildings, and its ever-changing environment.

Wellfleet Trains still capture the imagination of young and old. For 2017 there are two rooms devoted to Wellfleet's railroad past. This includes interesting local pictures, a large display of memorabilia, and even a working model.
