Working the Waters

The summer 2022 exhibition looked at the ways Cape Codders have historically made use of the great natural resource that surrounds and defines us, the water. With rare and seldom seen artifacts from different eras and occupations, from whaling to finfishing and shellfishing, from life onboard ship to life in a shop in the ancillary Commercial Street businesses, we examine aspects of the trajectory of Wellfleet’s fishing history. Featuring an installation of an authentic Native American fishing weir, come see, Working the Waters.
